Something I can do to Help

Have you ever been at a stop light and had someone come up to your car asking for money?  Or have you ever passed a person on the street and knew that they needed help?  This situation has happened to me so many times in the past.  What do I normally do?  Ignore them and don't make eye contact and move on.  I've always in the back of my mind wanted to do something to help but didn't feel like giving money was the right answer.  I saw an idea a few years back of assembling a bag of items to give out in this type of situation.  I've been meaning to get some bags together but as usual life gets in the way.

I felt like God was prompting me to get this done the past few weeks, so today while Evan was watching some Sesame Street, I assembled some bags that I'm going to use to bless people that are in need.

I'm going to detail the items I used in case you want to do this yourself.  It would also be a great project for boy/girl scout groups, church outreach, or a mom's group.

First off, here's a look at the supplies I gathered.  I'll add an Amazon link for some of the items as well.  Dollar Tree, CVS, and Walmart are also good places to get some of the items.

1. Travel Toothbrush Kit

2. Travel Size Kleenex

3.  Combs

4.  Bars that will hold up well in the heat

5.  Steps to Peace with God Tract

6.  Mini First Aid Kit

7.  Travel size shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, and soap.

These were extra ones we have from travel and staying at hotels.

8.  $5 Subway Gift Card

McDonalds would also work too.  I got my gift cards at this website:  svmcards.com  I got 10 $5 gift cards for Subway.

9.  Gallon Size Storage Bags and Paper Sacks

Here's a look once I divided up the items for each bag.

After the items are in the storage bag I put that bag into a brown paper sack.  This will make it easy to give out and it will stand up nicely in our car center console.

Now I'm going to put two in my car and two in Adam's car and refill once we give those out.

I hope this project has inspired you to make some bags of your own.  If you do make any bags, let me know in the comments below.  Also if you have any ideas for other items I can add let me know.
